CP AXTRA Empowers Thai Youth Through Experiential Nutrition and Food System Learning

Bangkok, July 22, 2025 – Building on the success of delivering over 3 million nutritious meals to students across Thailand through the Food Donation project over the past 8 years, CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, the operator of wholesale and retail brands Makro and Lotus’s is taking another step toward sustainable community development. The company recently launched an out-of-classroom learning program aimed at enriching students' understanding of food systems and nutrition, reaffirming its role as a leader in food security and sustainable development. The initiative, titled “Learning Beyond the Classroom,” welcomed over 400 students from 10 schools to visit Makro and Lotus’s branches—widely regarded as hubs for high-quality food and ingredients sourced globally. The field trip allowed students to witness firsthand how the food retail business manages quality, hygiene, and safety in every step of the supply chain.

Through initiatives like ‘Food Donation’ now in its 8 years, we are not only improving children’s health through nutritious school lunches but also instilling knowledge about proper nutrition to help them grow into healthy individuals physically and mentally,” she said.

The “Learning Beyond the Classroom” activity is designed to broaden students’ perspectives on the food value chain and instill essential life skills beyond traditional curricula. The program includes four interactive learning stations which are Bakery, Fruit, Vegetable, and Meat where students engage with every stage of food handling. Participating students gain firsthand exposure to the journey of food from sourcing to storage to distribution. This unique program walks them through the selection of high-quality ingredients from trusted and certified sources, hygienic storage practices that meet rigorous safety standards, and the efficient, safe distribution of food products to customers.

Students from various schools, and the initiative will continue in multiple provinces nationwide, offering students in communities near Makro and Lotus’s stores the chance to gain hands on knowledge and real-world experiences.
