CP AXTRA Unites Public and Private Sectors to Empower Thai Farmers Hosts “AXTRA AGRI CONNEXT” to Create Sustainable Market Opportunities

Bangkok, July 25, 2025 – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, the operator of Makro and Lotus’s, continues its commitment to driving Thailand’s grassroots economic development by creating sustainable business opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for Thai farmers. In collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, the Department of Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce, and a network of wholesale and retail operators, fresh markets, and petrol stations, CP AXTRA organized the “AXTRA AGRI-CONNEXT: Agricultural Business Matching Fair.” This event provides a golden opportunity for Thai farmers to connect directly with leading wholesale and retail chains through business matching sessions, while also offering training, consultations, and readiness support to expand their distribution channels for long-term growth.

Dr. Poj Aramwattananont, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, added: “The Thai Chamber of Commerce is committed to strengthening the agricultural sector by adding value to agricultural products through processing innovations and environmentally friendly farming practices. We are also focused on addressing and solving issues across multiple dimensions to build resilience in Thailand’s agriculture and food sectors. In this regard, we have established the Agricultural and Food Product Coordination and Promotion Center (AFC) to play a vital role in tackling the structural challenges of falling agricultural prices and limited market access. This event is a key initiative reflecting strong collaboration between the public and private sectors. We hope it will enable farmers, community enterprises, and entrepreneurs to build connections, scale their businesses, and become integral contributors to Thailand’s socio-economic development.”

Mr. Wittayakorn Maneenetr, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, stated: “The Department places a strong emphasis on strengthening the grassroots economy through partnerships with the private sector to expand market access for Thai farmers especially in modern trade, which plays a key role in bringing agricultural products to consumers. We also support the development of high-quality, market-ready products, promote value-added processing, and enhancing farmers’ marketing capabilities and strategic planning, such as forward contracts, so they can better adapt to market changes and improve their long-term livelihoods.”

The “AXTRA AGRI CONNEXT” event brought together more than 70 farmer groups from over 10 provinces, including Chachoengsao, Nakhon Nayok, Lopburi, Samut Prakan, Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya. A wide range of agricultural products was showcased, From seasonal vegetables, pesticide-free greens, salad vegetables, and seasonal fruits, to organic rice, Hom Nil rice, RD43 rice, white sea bass, gourami fish, and various processed agricultural goods. The event highlights a shared commitment across sectors to empower Thai farmers by creating sustainable, inclusive opportunities for both economic advancement and improved quality of life.
