Bangkok: October 8, 2025 - CP AXTRA Public Company Limited (CP AXTRA), an operator of Asia's leading wholesaler and retailer "Makro and Lotus's," reaffirms its commitment to achieving Zero Food Waste to Landfill by 2030. The Company joins forces with partners from all sectors to drive Thailand toward a zero food waste society at the "THAILAND ZERO FOOD WASTE FORUM 2025," under the theme "Synergize, Reduce Waste, Create Value - Transforming Challenges into Opportunities."

CP AXTRA places strong emphasis on addressing food waste, which poses significant impacts on the environment and society. The Company has joined hands with partners from the public, private, and community sectors to drive creative food waste management—turning food waste into new value, fostering a circular economy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. CP AXTRA aims to achieve Zero Food Waste to Landfill by 2030, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12.3.

CP AXTRA implements comprehensive food waste management across the entire supply chain through three key approaches:

  1. Upstream: Collaborating with producers and farmers to promote responsible cultivation and develop efficient transportation systems to minimize losses at the source.
  2. Midstream: Managing in-store inventory to reduce waste through automated ordering systems, shelf-life-extending packaging, and proper climate-controlled storage.
  3. Downstream: Maximizing the value of food waste under the "Zero Waste, Million Benefits" concept by converting food waste into protein feed for Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which helps lower animal feed costs and can be further processed into high-quality animal feed and organic fertilizer.

Mrs. Siriporn Dechsingha, Chief Corporate Sustainability and Communication Officer, CP AXTRA, stated, "The "AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value" project is not just a concept—it reflects real action across all Makro and Lotus's stores. We are committed to developing Zero Waste Stores nationwide and expanding this approach to surrounding communities through collaboration with partners from all sectors to build zero-waste communities that grow sustainably together."

In 2025, the "AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value" project successfully reduced food waste sent to landfills by more than 15,000 tons, while generating over 76 million baht in economic value for Thai communities and farmers. This achievement demonstrates the tangible potential of transforming "waste" into "value," advancing the circular economy, supporting farmers and SMEs through efficient resource utilization, reducing carbon emissions across the supply chain, and promoting sustainable products.

"We believe that systematic food waste management not only mitigates environmental impacts but also creates value for the economy, society, and people's well-being. CP AXTRA remains steadfast in our mission: "Sustainability is the core foundation of the organization," to foster steady and sustainable growth together with society," added Mrs. Siriporn.
