Makro–Lotus’s Expands “Longan Sharing for Community Wellbeing” Project into Its 6th Year Supporting Thai Farmers and Strengthening the Grassroots Economy through Nationwide Distribution

06 August 2025

Bangkok, 6 August 2025 – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, the operator of Makro and Lotus’s, continues its commitment to strengthening Thailand’s grassroots economy by empowering local farmers and improving their quality of life through sustainable initiatives. The company is moving forward with the 6th year of its flagship project “Longan Sharing for Community Wellbeing,” a key strategic initiative designed to support Thai farmers through a “Buy–Support–Distribute” model aimed at maintaining stable fruit prices during peak seasons.

This year, the company targets to purchase 1,100,000 kilograms of longan, a major seasonal fruit from the northern region, and distribute it across more than Makro and Lotus’s nationwide from now until 30 September 2025.

Makro and Lotus’s remain steadfast in our mission to serve as a platform of opportunity for SMEs and Thai farmers. Through this initiative, we aim to generate stable income for growers while promoting the consumption of high-quality Thai fruits. We are working in close collaboration with the Agricultural and Food Innovation Coordination Center (AFC), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce to ensure that quality-grade longan is purchased directly from farmers in key producing provinces such as Lamphun, Lampang, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai. This produce is then distributed through our retail network, helping manage oversupply and stabilize market prices during the rainy season.

Now in its sixth consecutive year, the “Longan Sharing for Community Wellbeing” project goes beyond market support. For every kilogram of longan sold, CP AXTRA contributes 1 baht toward community development initiatives in the northern provinces, the heartland of Thailand’s longan production.

This effort is part of CP AXTRA’s broader CSR and sustainability strategy, reflecting its long-term vision to drive inclusive economic growth, support local agriculture, and ensure that business success contributes meaningfully to community wellbeing.
