CP AXTRA Elevates the “60 Still Awesome” Initiative Transforming Makro–Lotus’s into “Spaces of Happiness” Empowering Seniors to Create Value and Drive Thai Society Forward

12 May 2026

Bangkok, 12 May 2026 – Makro and Lotus’s, under CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, continue to advance the “60 Still Awesome” initiative to holistically enhance the quality of life for Thailand’s elderly. Guided by the concept of “Spaces of Happiness for a Better Quality of Life,” the program aims to empower seniors to live meaningful lives—across income, health, and well-being—while creating social opportunities and strengthening the grassroots economy through three key pillars: skills training for income generation, providing retail space for senior entrepreneurs, health and wellness services, and employment opportunities in stores. To date, 272 seniors have been employed across branches nationwide (as of 16 April 2026), reflecting a strong commitment to enabling active participation of the elderly in the economy.

The initiative reflects CP AXTRA’s vision of viewing seniors as a “power of society,” with the potential to create value and drive the grassroots economy toward sustainable improvements in quality of life.

Skills Development for Income Generation

Through the “Senior Entrepreneur” program, the initiative focuses on enhancing vocational skills, enabling seniors to pursue self-employment or build sustainable businesses of their own.

Happiness & Health

Dedicated “Senior Happiness Markets” have been established within Makro and Lotus’s stores, allowing seniors to sell their products free of charge—helping generate income and foster a sense of pride. The program also promotes community engagement through social activities such as aerobic exercise sessions, encouraging active lifestyles and social interaction among seniors. Preventive healthcare is another key focus, with basic health check-ups including blood sugar, blood pressure, and vision screening, along with guidance on nutrition and holistic well-being—supporting seniors to live healthier, happier, and more sustainable lives.

Employment Opportunities

Makro and Lotus’s provide job opportunities for individuals aged 60 and above across branches nationwide, in roles such as merchandising staff, weighing station staff, and customer service personnel—helping seniors generate income and maintain financial stability after retirement.

The “60 Still Awesome” initiative is not only a program for the elderly but also a model for building an inclusive society where people of all ages are valued. CP AXTRA remains committed to continuously enhancing and expanding the program—empowering Thai seniors to access opportunities and live with dignity—while transforming Makro–Lotus’s into “Spaces of Happiness” that are open and inclusive for all communities, and contributing to Thailand’s long-term sustainable development.
