Bangkok, August 20, 2026 – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, operator of Makro and Lotus’s, continues its commitment to supporting Thai farmers and communities in northern watershed areas with the launch of “Ping Wang Yom Nann,” a coffee brand created as a symbol of restoring the “source of life” by connecting forests, waterways and communities. Through product development and value-creating initiatives, the brand aims to create meaningful livelihood and income opportunities for local communities while fostering sustainable stewardship of natural resources.
“Ping Wang Yom Nann” is initially featuring coffee sourced from the Ping, Wang, Yom and Nann watersheds, cultivated through agroforestry systems that enable farmers to generate income from coffee production while preserving forests and ecosystems. The initiative reflects an approach to livelihood development in which economic opportunities and conservation go hand in hand, encouraging local communities to take an active role in protecting watershed forests and becoming “guardians of nature” within their communities.
At the heart of “Ping Wang Yom Nann” is not simply the creation of a product brand, but the creation of a market for products from upstream communities. CP AXTRA serves as a bridge connecting farmers and communities with modern retail markets, supporting them throughout the journey—from product development and quality standards to bringing their products to consumers.
As a first step, CP AXTRA has introduced specialty coffee beans from agroforestry-based watershed forest conservation and restoration projects to Arabitia cafés at four pilot Lotus’s locations: Pattanakarn, Sukhaphiban 1, Sukhumvit 50 and Ram Inthra. Most recently, the brand expanded to a pop-up café at Happitat, giving consumers the opportunity to experience coffee from four distinct watersheds:
- Ping Watershed, Chiang Mai: Full-bodied and rich, with a distinctive character shaped by its high-altitude origins.
- Wang Watershed, Lampang: Smooth sweetness with delicate floral aromas, highlighting the care and precision of its processing.
- Yom Watershed, Chiang Rai: Fruity and refreshing, with vibrant tropical fruit notes.
- Nann Watershed, Nan: Complex and layered in flavor, with a distinctive character unique to its origin.
The initiative will further develop the market in a tangible way by establishing product standards and purchasing volumes to support future plans to expand the distribution of “Ping Wang Yom Nann” coffee beans through both Makro and Lotus’s. This marks an important step in creating a reliable market for community products and expanding opportunities for farmers to generate continuous and sustainable income.
Moving from “community products” to “products with an established market” is an important mechanism for advancing Thai agricultural products. It ensures that the value of agricultural produce does not end with the sale of raw materials, but can be further enhanced through quality development, branding and direct access to consumers. CP AXTRA serves as a bridge between producers at the source and modern markets, enabling agricultural products from local communities to create greater value and grow in today’s market.
“Ping Wang Yom Nan” is therefore more than a coffee brand. It represents the starting point of a system that connects “forests, waterways, communities and markets”—using products as a vehicle to create livelihoods and income, while bringing the stories of the watersheds to consumers and inspiring long-term stewardship of natural resources.
CP AXTRA believes that when watershed forests are restored and strengthened, waterways can continue to flow, and communities and ecosystems can thrive together. The company will continue to build on “Ping Wang Yom Nann” by developing other products sourced from watershed communities, creating opportunities for Thai agricultural products, local communities and nature to grow together sustainably.
