CP AXTRA Leads Retail toward “Zero Waste” with The AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value” project, aiming for Zero Waste to Landfill by 2030

Bangkok, September 8, 2025 – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, an operator of Asia's leading wholesaler and retailer "Makro - Lotus's," reinforces its sustainability commitment through the "AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value" project, with the goal of achieving Zero Food Waste to Landfill by 2030. In collaboration with partners, the Company leverages green innovations to transform what was once discarded into benefits for society, farmers, and the environment. This vision was shared at the "TNN Forum 2025 – TRANSFORMING THAILAND toward Sustainability," where CP AXTRA demonstrated its role as a private sector leader driving growth alongside sustainable value creation, reaffirming its belief that "Sustainability is the organization's core foundation."
The "AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value" project consists of two key initiatives:
- “No Edible Food Wasted”: This initiative distributes surplus food that is still safe and of good quality to those in need, such as low-income families in communities. Conducted in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration under the BKK Food Bank initiative, together with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and SOS, it aims to strengthen food security while reducing food loss.
- "Zero Waste, Countless Benefits": This initiative promotes sustainable food waste management by transforming waste into value—for example, through black soldier fly (BSF) farming, which helps farmers reduce feed costs, develop new products, and increase income, while advancing the circular economy.
In 2025, the “AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value” project, through its two initiatives, is expected to cut more than 15,000 tons of waste from going to landfills and generate over 76 million baht in economic value for communities.
CP Axtra also continues its "AXTRA Green Together" project, cultivating a culture of employee engagement in energy conservation, waste separation, and efficient resource use, with the goal of making sustainability an integral part of employees' work practices.
Mrs. Siriporn Dechsingha, Chief Corporate Sustainability and Communication Officer, CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, stated, "Zero Waste, Countless Benefits is more than just a concept—it is a practice embraced across all Makro and Lotus's stores under CP AXTRA. Through green innovations in food waste management, we turn what was once discarded into value for society, farmers, and the environment, supporting the circular economy and driving progress toward our goal of zero food waste by 2030."
CP AXTRA firmly believes that achieving zero food waste by 2030 through the "AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value" project will not only reduce environmental impact but also create sustainable value for society, the economy, and people's quality of life.
