Bangkok, December 3, 2025 – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited (CP AXTRA), the operator of Asia’s leading wholesaler and retailer “Makro and Lotus’s,” reinforced its leadership in total waste management across the supply chain at the “SUSTAINABILITY FORUM 2026: SHIFT FORWARD – OVERCOMING CHALLENGES.” CP AXTRA reaffirmed its commitment to achieving Zero Waste to Landfill by 2030, a goal supported by strong progress in 2025, when CP AXTRA reduced waste sent to landfill by 31,755 tons through its flagship initiative, “AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value” project, The program generated more than 79 million baht in economic value for Thai communities and farmers through responsible waste conversion. This achievement underscores CP AXTRA’s dedication to driving business growth while creating long-term sustainable value, in line with its commitment: “Sustainability is the core foundation of the organization.”
Food waste remains a critical global issue, with more than 1 billion tons generated each year. In Thailand, an average of 86 kilograms of food waste is produced per person annually, creating substantial environmental and economic impacts. As a leading wholesale–retail operator that connects producers and consumers across the supply chain, CP AXTRA has developed a systematic food waste management framework to drive sustainable outcomes for all stakeholders.
CP AXTRA implements comprehensive food waste management across the entire supply chain through three key approaches:
- Upstream: Collaborating with producers and farmers to promote responsible cultivation and develop efficient transportation systems to minimize losses at the source.
- Midstream: Managing in-store inventory to reduce waste through automated ordering systems, shelf-life-extending packaging, and proper climate-controlled storage.
- Downstream: Maximizing the value of food waste under the “From Waste to Wealth” concept by converting food waste into protein feed for Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which helps lower animal feed costs and can be further processed into high-quality animal feed and organic fertilizer.
Mrs. Siriporn Dechsingha, Chief Corporate Sustainability and Communication Officer, CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, stated, “CP AXTRA places great importance on food waste management as the issue affects both the environment and society. We believe that a systematic approach not only helps mitigate negative impacts but also turns waste into value for communities, farmers, and the environment through green innovation. This supports the creation of a circular economy and drives our goal of achieving zero food waste by 2030.”
CP AXTRA is committed to achieving its “Zero Food Waste to Landfill by 2030” goal through the “AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value” project, which reduces environmental impacts, creates social and environmental value, and contributes to improving sustainable quality of life.
