CP AXTRA Achieves Highest “AAA” Rating in SET ESG Ratings, Affirming Sustainability Leadership in Thailand’s Wholesale and Retail Sector
CP AXTRA Public Company Limited (CPAXT), the operator of Asia’s leading wholesaler and retailer “Makro and Lotus’s,” has been awarded the highest “AAA” rating under the SET ESG Ratings for 2025 by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). This recognition reflects CP AXTRA’s commitment to driving sustainable growth across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions. The assessment highlights CP AXTRA’s strong performance in the environmental dimension, where the Company achieved a perfect score of 100, particularly in food waste management, climate-related initiatives, and efficient resource utilization.
CP AXTRA has set clear targets to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero emissions by 2050 through key initiatives, including the “AXTRA Zero Waste: Less Waste, More Value” waste management program. Moreover, in 2025, the Company reduced more than 31,700 tonnes of waste to landfill, comprising over 15,000 tonnes of food waste and more than 16,755 tonnes of recycled waste, while collecting over 2.2 million plastic bottles from customers through Makro and Lotus’s stores. These waste management efforts resulted in a reduction of 109,649 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of approximately 11 million trees. The Company also promotes the use of clean energy in its operations, including the installation of solar rooftop systems at distribution centers and more than 1,384 Makro and Lotus’s stores, alongside the adoption of clean-energy vehicles for product distribution.
In the social dimension, CP AXTRA prioritizes employee development and respect for human rights, community engagement, and the creation of career and income opportunities for farmers and small entrepreneurs nationwide through its “Platform of Opportunity” initiative. These efforts contributed to the Company’s strong performance in the social assessment.
The “AAA” SET ESG Rating underscores CP AXTRA’s role as one of Thailand’s leading wholesale and retail companies that has embedded sustainability into its business strategy, with measurable and tangible outcomes in food waste and resource management, supporting long-term sustainable growth.
